Haiku in Space: A Minimalist Pelican Sculpture

Introducing our pelican sculpture - a true embodiment of the idea that "less is more". This piece showcases an elegant simplicity that is both striking and sophisticated. Inspired by the impressive pelicans of Ocean Beach, San Francisco, our sculpture employs contour lines to create a bold and eye-catching form.

What sets this pelican sculpture apart is its expert use of lucid contour lines, depicting the bird's spine, beak, and neck with simple yet fluid strokes.  We have pared down the form to its bare essentials and used a minimal color palette of pure white glaze, allowing the hard edges of the sculpture to emit a soft and enchanting glow. This piece is like a haiku poem in space, drawing the viewer in time and time again to its simple yet captivating emergence into space.

Fun Facts:

Did you know that in the Navajo Native American language, pelicans are called "Dibé bina'áníí," which means "water turkey"? These magnificent birds are seen as a symbol of selflessness and generosity in Native American folklore, because of their habit of sharing their catch with other birds.
